Chapter 9 You Couldn’t Possibly Be Pregnant
Harper hadn’t eaten much all day. Therefore, once she returned to the Pineview Villa,
she asked the kitchen to prepare some spaghetti.
As she looked at the spaghetti and snelled its aroma, which would normally make her stomach growl with hunger, she suddenly felt waves of nausea and the urge to vonat Harper thought it was just because she was too hungry. However, just as she was about to take a bite, she couldn’t suppress the overwhelming nausea anymore,
She then rushed to the bathroom and retched continuously.
It was an awful sensation, and Harper falt as if her insides were being pulled out.
After a while, she finally felt better. Harper straightened up, only to find herself locking eyes with a pair of deep, interse eyes.
Her eyes widened in shock, and she quickly turned to face Benjamin, king, “When did you get back?”
Harper wondered, “How come I didn’t hear him coming in?”
Benjamin’s expression was calm as he fixed his eyes intently on her. “What’s wrong with you?”
Harper’s expression betrayed a hint of panic, but she tried to sound calm in she replied, “It’s nothing.”
“Are you sure it’s nothing? He pressed on with a frown.
Harper just smiled, “Of course, what else could it be?”
Her eyes then blinked nervously, but she quickly stopped herself.
Benjamin, of course, noticedat. He narrowed his penetrating eyes as he looked straight into Harper’s as if he wanted to peer into her soul.
After a long while, he finally spoke up, “Harper, you’re not pregnant, are you?”
Benjamin’s choice of words was “you’re not pregnant, are you?” instead of” “are you pregnant?”
Although there was just a slight difference in wording, it had graficant implications.
Harperia eyes trembled slightly, and her heart ached terribly as if an unseen force was gripping it.
She med, “Benjamin didn’t hesitate at all in outright dismiss the possibility of pregnancy. He didn’t show any doubt whatsoever.”
Harper met Benjamin’s gaze squarely and asked with a faint smile, “If I were really pregnant, would you be willing to let me keep the baby?”
“You couldn’t possibly be pregnant,” he stated firmly, his deep eyes reflecting unwavering resolve.
Benjamin’s reaction deeply hurt Harper. She thought, So, deep down, he never considered the possibility of us having a child.”
She suppressed her discomfort and said with a light smile, “Sace you’re so sure, then why are you doubting? After all, you’re always taken precautions every time we have sex. Have you forgotten?
Except for that one time when Benjamin was drunk, which he didn’t remember afterward, and Harper wouldn’t bring it up either.
Her expression remained unchanged when she said that, revealing no flaws.
Harper’s response was exactly what Benjamin wanted to hear, but when he saw her mocking amirk, his handsome face tensed up slightly. He then felt as if something sharp had brushed against his heart, stirring up inderable emotions.
He frowned, and the emotions in his expression despeed. They looked at each other for a long while before he suggested. “If you’re feeling unwell, you should see a doctor. Shall I have Curtis arrange it for you?”
Test wat
Curtis Test was Benjamin’s secretary.
Harper shook her head and declined his offer. No need. I go by myself.”
Benjamin sighed, “Your health is your own responsibility. Don’t fret over other matters. Or shall I accompany you myself?
She retorted, “Benjamin, I said I’ll go by myself. We’re getting a divorce anyway. Do you really think I should keep relying on you? Are you sure Ma. Davis won’t mind?”
Benjamin fell silent at her words. His brows furrowed avan tighter, and his distinguished face was as cold as is without a trace of warmth.
Harper wamed herself inwardly, “Do you clearly now? He has no feelings or affection for you. You mean nothing to him. His only concern is Lauren.”
Benjamin’s silence led her to a moment of self–mockery,
Shortly after, the atmosphere quieted down as well. After a while, he finally asked with a slight frown, ‘Did you told the Mitchall family about our divorce?”
