Chapter 5 Let Me Have A Try
Flowery Residence.
In a small studio apartment, Anna was wearing an apron and bustling around in the kitchen, preparing dinner. Beside her, a little boy held a glass of milk and looked around curiously. “Is this where you usually live?”
“Yes, the room is small, definitely not as luxurious as your home,” Anna casually replied as she put the chopped vegetables into a plate.
The little boy tilted his head and asked her, “Do you live alone?”
“Yes.”
“Don’t you have any family?”
“I do, but they’re not here. I’m usually alone.”
The little boy fell silent for a moment, seemingly worried that she might feel sad. He quickly patted her gently and comforted her in a soft voice, “Don’t worry. From now on, it’ll be just the two of us.”
Anna couldn’t help but laugh. He really was a wise little boy. The more she looked at him, the more she liked him.
“Alright, I’m going to cook now. It’ll get smoky in here, so why don’t you go sit outside for a while? It’ll be quick.”
“Okay.”
The little boy obediently nodded and immediately went outside to sit on the couch, waiting.
Anna started cooking. She was used to cooking for herself to save money, so she was quite skilled in cooking.
Within an hour, she had prepared three dishes and a soup. There was seafood, spare ribs, and vegetables, all perfectly balanced in nutrition, flavor, color, and aroma. It was a feast for the eyes and mouth-watering enough.
However, Anna still had some concerns. After all, the young master of the Parker family was in front of her, accustomed to eating extravagant delicacies. She didn’t know if he would enjoy these home-cooked dishes.
Anna handed a fork and a spoon to the little boy and said, “Why don’t you give it a try first? If it doesn’t suit your taste, just let me know, and I’ll take you out to eat.”
The little boy nodded, took a small spoonful of soup, and stuffed it into his mouth. He enjoyed the soup, smacking his lips, which made him look extremely adorable.
Anna smiled and was about to sit down to eat when she heard the urgent sound of the doorbell.
Anna couldn’t help but feel curious. Usually, no one would come to her house. Who could it be? With a sense of wonder, she walked over to open the door.
Standing in front of her was a tall figure, leaning against the doorframe.
His face was so perfect as if it were made by God. It seemed like a masterpiece of divine craftsmanship. His thin lips were tightly pressed into a straight line, and his delicate features were almost impossible to describe with a paintbrush. His cool eyebrows and eyes were as deep and mysterious as the ocean under the starry skies.
He was dressed in a perfectly tailored suit, which matched his tall and upright figure well, giving him a noble and attractive appearance. His legs, hidden beneath the long pants, were slender and well-proportioned, making his overall aura and physique impeccable.
This was the first time Anna had ever seen such an outstanding man in her life. For a moment, she was at a loss for words, forgetting how to react.
Finally regaining her composure, she was about to ask the man about his identity when she heard a loud noise behind her.
Anna quickly turned around and saw the little boy angrily slamming his spoon on the table before stomping into the room with his short legs. He even closed the door behind him!
William looked helpless.
Anna was speechless. She couldn’t understand what was happening. “What’s wrong with this little guy?” she wondered.
Still puzzled, Anna heard the man in front of her say slowly, “Hello, I am William Parker, Justin’s father.”
Anna was stunned, feeling somewhat surprised. She had thought that someone from the Parker family would come knocking on her door sooner or later, but she never expected it to be William Parker.
She had heard of this man before. It was said that he was a low-key and cold-hearted man, a legend in the business world, and he held immense power and prestige. People feared him.
His younger brother, Charles Parker, was equally charming and notable in the business world.
In the past, someone like William would never have had any connection to Anna. But today, he had personally come to her humble home.
Anna reluctantly snapped back to reality and replied, “Hello, you must be here to take Justin back, right?”
“Yeah.” William nodded and glanced inside, asking, “Can I come in?”
“Of course.” Anna quickly stepped aside.
William strode in, his height of over six feet making Anna feel even more aware of how small her little dwelling was.
William didn’t say much, but he instinctively took a look around.
The house was small, but it was decorated very warmly, and there was steaming food on the table, which seemed inexplicably heartwarming. William didn’t know why he had such thoughts in his heart.
Before coming, he had checked Anna’s information and had a general understanding of her background.
At that time, he felt that Anna, who was getting close to Justin, might have ulterior motives. After all, according to rumors, William was not interested in women, and Justin didn’t like unfamiliar women getting close to him. It was rare for Justin to like Anna, so she must have been trying to take the chance to please Justin.
Anna stood behind William, unaware of his thoughts, but felt embarrassed when she saw him paying attention to the food on the table.
“I only have simple meals here, and Mr. Justin might not be used to it,” Anna said, feeling a bit embarrassed.
William replied in an indifferent tone, “He’s not that picky. He can eat anything. Thank you for taking care of him today, Ms. Jenkins.”
Anna quickly waved her hand and said, “There’s no need to thank me. Justin is well-behaved. Well… I just don’t know what happened just now…”
“It has nothing to do with you, Ms. Jenkins. He’s probably sulking with me. Just call him out, and it’ll be fine.”
William said that as he walked to the bedroom and knocked on the door, saying, “Justin, it’s time to go home. Come out.”
Justin didn’t respond.
William seemed to have expected this and patiently continued, “You’ve been sulking for three days. It’s time to stop. You’re not a three-year-old anymore.”
Anna, standing behind them, couldn’t help but smile at these words.
Justin remained silent.
William frowned, and his tone turned cold as he said, “Justin Parker, you have one minute. Come out, or I’ll break in.”
Finally, there was some noise inside the room, but it seemed like the little boy still had no intention of coming out.
Anna couldn’t stand it anymore.
William’s words were both a threat and intimidation. It was unlikely that Justin would come out.
So, she couldn’t help but speak up, “Mr. Parker, how about… let me give it a try?”
