Chapter 4
With a heart like ashes, I began to fight back.

“What are you arguing about? This is a hospital.”
The nurse ran over when she heard the commotion and immediately shouted for the doctor when she
saw the scene.
“Someone, hurry! The patient in room four is hemorrhaging! Quick!”
Ian still stood frozen at the door. The nurse glanced at him.
“Sir, please lend a hand and help move her to the bed.”
Ian then snapped out of it and quickly picked me up.
I looked at Ian coldly and said viciously.
“Get out.”
Ian’s arms faltered, and he averted his eyes.
Seeing this, the nurse understood and ushered everyone out. Doctors and nurses rushed in with equipment and began to treat me.
Since the incision had torn open, it needed to be stitched up again. I was taken back to the operating
room.
When I came out of the operating room, I saw Ian anxiously waiting at the door. As soon as he saw me, he rushed up.
“Mila, are you okay? I’m sorry, it’s all my fault.”
After another surgery, I was utterly exhausted and only replied faintly.
“Ian, let’s get a divorce.”
Ian’s face froze, and he gripped my hand in pain.
“No, Mila, I can’t divorce you. You should know how I feel about you.”
I tried to pull my hand back, but I had no strength.
“Ian, why deceive yourself? Let go.”
“Mila, you’re out! How did the surgery go? I’m really sorry about today. It’s all Ian and my fault.”
Sofia appeared at the right moment, carrying a thermos.
Sofia’s words made it seem like she and Ian were the real couple, and I was the extra one.
Ian frowned slightly when he saw Sofia.
“Sofia, didn’t you go back? Why are you here again?”
Hearing Ian’s unfriendly tone, Sofia lowered her head, looking like a scolded child.
“Ian, I thought Mila needed some nourishment after the surgery, so I made supplements for her. If don’t want me here, I can leave right away.”
Sofia raised the thermos and handed it to Ian, revealing a bandaged finger.
As expected, Ian’s frown relaxed, and his eyes showed concern.

“We have a maid at home. There’s no need for you to cook. How did you hurt yourself? Does it hurt?” Sofia immediately shook her head, smiling sweetly.
“Ian, it doesn’t hurt. As long as Mila gets better quickly, I don’t mind.”
Watching them act so oblivious to my presence right after my surgery, I spoke coldly.
“If
you want to flaunt your love, do it at home. Don’t disgust me here, okay?”
Ian snapped out of it, his face turning pale.
“Mila, Sofia means well. Don’t hold it against her.”
“Ian, after we divorce, what you do with Sofia is your business. For now, please take her and leave my
sight.”
Ian was stunned when he met my cold, detached eyes.
Sofia’s eyes brightened at the mention of divorce.
But Ian held my hand firmly.
“Mila, I said I wouldn’t divorce you.”
