The transfer procedures were completed quickly. First, Sofia was in a hurry to secure her status to quell the public opinion. Second, the bidding was about to start.
Ian needed to settle his personal affairs before that to avoid impacting the company’s reputation.
Once the houses were transferred to my name, I put them all up for sale.
Since the houses were in prime locations and listed below market price, they sold quickly.
After liquidating all assets, I bought a plane ticket back to City B.
Today was the resort bidding meeting. I arrived early to set up.
My family, worried I might dwell on things and feel sad, directly appointed me as the general manager to immerse myself in work and forget my troubles.
When Ian arrived at the scene, I was arranging the VIP seats.
Ian looked a bit embarrassed upon seeing me. In contrast, Sofia, next to him, proudly held his arm, laughing heartily.
“Mila, did you get a menial job after leaving lan?”
“If I’d known you were struggling so much, I’d have asked Ian to get you a receptionist job. At least you wouldn’t be this tired.”
Ian tugged on Sofia’s sleeve, looking displeased.
“Stop it.
“Thank you for your kind offer, Miss Moore, but I’m afraid your Mr. Taylor can’t afford me, so I’ll pass.” “Besides, I got quite a bit in the divorce. Even without working, I can live comfortably for several lifetimes. A receptionist job? No thanks.”
Sofia’s face turned sour.
“Mila White, what are you so proud of? It’s only because Ian is kind–hearted that you got so much in the divorce.‘
“I’m not proud because I deserve it. But what about you? Have you gotten your marriage certificate with Ian?”
After our divorce, Ian immediately posted a clarification on Twitter, proving he was single and not cheating during our marriage.
However, even after the statement, Ian and Sofia hadn’t gotten their marriage certificate. Ian kept postponing it, saying he needed to choose an auspicious date.
Hearing this, Sofia’s face turned pale. She glared at me viciously but was cut off by Ian.
“Shut up. If you want to watch the bidding, stay quietly. If not, get out.”
Startled by Ian’s tone, Sofia shivered and immediately sat quietly aside.
Once Sofia left, Ian’s gaze softened as he looked at me tenderly.
“Mila, how have you been? I heard you sold all the houses. Are you short of money? You can tell me if
you are.”
I coldly interrupted him.
“I’m not short of money. I just find places you’ve been in filthy.”
Ian’s face turned pale, looking uneasy.
“Mr. Taylor, you’d better prepare for the bidding. Don’t end up losing both ways.”
Ian stopped trying to talk and sat next to Sofia.
The bidding officially began with the host introducing the event. Then, amid warm applause, the host invited the general manager of the White Group to present the project.
“Let’s welcome Ms. Mila White, the general manager of the White Group, to give the final presentation for our resort project.”
Amid enthusiastic applause, I stepped onto the stage.
When Sofia saw me, her face turned ghostly pale,
Ian was stunned, his clapping hands freezing mid–air as he stared at me, motionless.
