Chapter 14
The doctor said that Timothy was lucky that the incision wasn’t on his heart, and he was sent to the hospital in time. So, Timothy made it.
While Timothy was recovering in the hospital, I went to see him with some fruit.
His eyes lit up when he saw me, with a hint of anticipation.
“Thank you, Timothy!”
He shook his head. “Evie, you don’t have to thank me. You know how I feel about you…”
I was silent for a moment, then raised my head and looked straight at him.
“Timothy, tell you what? The gangster from last night was caught.
“He didn’t do it on impulse, nor was he forced to rob. Mia hired him to do so.”
Timothy opened his eyes wide and looked at me blankly. So, he didn’t know that.
“You left Mia, and she couldn’t accept it. So she hired that man to destroy me.
“Look what have I gained after being with you for so many years.
“You left me at the altar. You dug up my grandfather’s grave and even threatened me with the fact that I donated my liver to save you. It’s all your doing.
“Timothy, I really loved you.”
My tone unconsciously softened, and my eyes looked into the void as if I were looking at myself, who was so desperate for love.
“But loving you cost me too much.
“I hardly felt happy when I was with you, but the pain you brought me was unforgettable.
“Timothy, loving you is too tiring and painful!
“I wanted to hate you, but you saved me. So I can’t even hate you!
“Timothy, you hurt me so much, and now you saved my life. Let’s call it even,
“Now let me go, okay?”
Timothy’s face turned paler as I spoke.
His lips trembled slightly, and his eyes were full of regret and sadness.
“I’m sorry, Evie!
alright?
“I didn’t know I had caused you so much pain and given you so many painful memories…
“Evie, you can go and live a good life. I won’t bother you again!”
I got up and left. When I reached the door, I turned around and looked at Timothy, who was leaning on the hospital bed, looking lonely.
“Timothy!
“Farewell!”
A long time later, I heard that Mia had died in prison, and no one came to claim her ashes.
I never saw Timothy again.
Some say he was disabled in a car accident. Some say he died young. But some say he became a monk…
But none of that had anything to do with me anymore.
I have a life to live, and I won’t look back.
