Chapter 349 Breakfast
Chlor needed to stay in the hospital tonight, as per the doctor’s orders.
She initially wanted Michael not to spend the night at the hospital since she felt it wasn’t a big deal. However, he insisted and had Ethan bring over a bunch of mutritional supplements.
Chloe quipped. “I’ll be discharged tomorrow, so why bother with all this tonight? How
much can I possibly consume in one night?”
Michael replied, “Eat as much as you can!”
Chloe was speechless.
She glanced at the packaging and was shocked by what she saw on the back of the labels.
“Are these for menopausal women?”
Michael said, “Tasked the doctor, and he said you can take them. Your symptoma match.”
Chloe was infuriated.
She thought. “So he thinks I’m going through menopause and causing a fuss for no reason?”
In frustration, she tossed all the supplements under the bed.
Feeling a bit awkward with just the two of them in the room, Michael cautiously said, “Pick whatever you like. I get it for you

“Then I want Lucy and her mother’s lives,” Chloe retorted sarcastically.
Michael, feeling helpless, pinched the bridge of his nose. “Chloe, can you be practical?”
He thought, “Even if the Shawn family is wealthy and influential, I can’t just go around ordering hits!”
“You can’t fulfill any of my requests, Mr. Shawn. If you can’t do it, then don’t try to mimic giving gifts like others do,” Chloe mocked, burrowing under the covers.
Michael felt a bit aggrieved but still reached out to tuck the covers around her tightly, struggling with his less–than–nimble hands.
The quiet hospital room was soon interrupted by a ringing phone.
It was Ethan on the line, informing Michael that the card he had given Chloe had been returned.
After Lucy’s trip to Paramount Airlines, she had handed the card back to Ethan.
Michael instructed, “Put it on my desk. I’ll pick it up tomorrow.”
Hanging up, he turned to the seemingly sleeping Chloe and said, “Got the card back.”
Chloe granted softly in response.
She had just heard that the card had been returned by Lucy.
She thought, “I knew it! There aren’t many people who can touch his card.”
“I never gave Lucy the card; she must have taken it by mistake while I was helping her before.”

Michael sighed, feeling exasperated, “The card incident was my oversight. I’m sorry. As for the sponsorship you mentioned, it will officially tree from tomorrow. If you’re worried, we can go to the bank together to sort it out.”

Startled, she realized that Michael had stayed by her bedside all night, despite her protests.
She gently pulled her hand away from the covers, unintentionally waking up the already lightly sleeping Michael.

There was a food court near the hospital, a myriad of choices beckoning for breakfast.
Chloe said, “Meat loaf.”
She used to adore it, but only from a specific place; the rest, she deemed inauthentic.
Chloe’d occasionally asked Michael to bring some after work, but he’d never remembered.
Over time, she stopped asking it was quite a trek from the southern part of town, after all.
