Chapter 8.1
Before I could react, Lucas stepped forward and grabbed my colleagues collar.
My colleague quickly tried to push him off, and they started to grapple with each other.
I stood there, stunned by how quickly my carefully constructed life had unraveled by Lucas.
“Lucas! What the hell are you doing?
I shouted, trying to pull them apart but not knowing where to start.
A security guard noticed the commotion and rushed over with his baton, separating the two men. “What’s going on here?” the security guard asked sternly.
Lucas’s meticulous white shirt became messy and his breath heavy.
“I’m here to take Harper home,
Lucas said.
Clenching my fists, I spat out, “That’s your home, not mine. Stop saying ‘home‘ as if it‘ s ours.” My colleague jumped in to defend me. “Breaking up and still harassing her? That’s pathetic.” Lucas‘ s face clouded with confusion and pain.
The silence stretched for a moment.
He said, “Three years of our relationship…”
I calmed down a bit. “Did you only realize the importance of those three years today?
“On our anniversary, you left me alone to take care of someone else. Didn’t you understand then? “You haven’t contacted me for the past two weeks.”
I looked into his eyes and said, “If you respected me, you would act like a decent ex—disappear.” Lucas s eyes showed his hurt, his hair tousled by the wind, making him look almost pitiful.
I grabbed my colleague‘ s arm, ready to leave, but Lucas followed, desperate to explain.
Isabella has a blood clotting disorder and mental health problems. That’s why I had to take care of
her.
“Work has been hectic, and when I tried to reach you, your number was blocked, and I didn’t know your new address..

I remained cold. “I’ve made it clear to you. I used to love you, suffured a lot because of that. But now, I don’t want to anymore. Don’t make this harder than it already is. Lucas looked deeply saddened. “I love you too, Harper. Can Love without warmth, would it be true?
t you feel that?“
